Cost per Hake Burger on a bun: $5.00
I chose this recipe first because I had all the ingredients to get started. My goal is to match each recipe as described by Martha, ingredient for ingredient, so each recipe mimics hers. This one turned out to be a match. I, however, used Cod as it was mentioned as a substitute for Hake.
First, the look and taste were both superb, as it included other ingredients and fried up beautifully. I also made the quick-pickled red onions but forgot to include them on the sandwich until after I started eating it. I then included them, and this added to the taste, as well.
One thing that I would mention is that I took the Cod out of the freezer and thawed it, but should have patted it dry a bit more, but that did not take away from the flavor of the burger.
